Practical Estimating for Software Projects

20–22 June 2001

Well-ordered projects need to predict resource requirements, duration and cost so that commitments to plans and schedules can be made.Project planning and tracking begin on Day One, so estimates are needed early and iteratively. During feasibility, estimates are needed to enable strategic decision making. Such early estimates need to be rapid, but being less well informed, are necessarily coarse. As more detail becomes available, estimates can be refined and better precision attained.
Numerous estimating techniques are available but none is universally applicable. Wise practitioners use multiple techniques to 'triangulate' their predictions and to highlight uncertainty.

This course teaches such a stepwise, multi-discipline approach that will maximise confidence in your estimates. It provides a defined process to help you produce estimates that are repeatable and open to improvement.

3 day - £1050 + VAT *
